Navy Blue Bridal Bouquets, And Hold the Blueberries Please!

Blueberries and bridal gowns do not a happy bride make, but thankfully we have Privet berries and ‘Blue Muffin’ Viburnum for that little touch of navy in your bouquet. Of course you can still have blueberries in the cake……if you dare.

‘Black Baccara’ Roses from Peterkort, Privet berry, Pieris, and mixed succulents make for a romantic winter bouquet.

Privet berry and blush garden roses go winter wild for a Tessa Kim photo shoot. And once you see Tessa’s beautiful hand-made accessories, you’ll be looking for an excuse to wear one!

And for the late summer bride, ‘Blue Muffin’ Viburnum and ‘Cafe Au Lait’ Dahlias make perfect companions.

Blush Summer Flower Subscription Program – It’s Time!

Just because you’re too afraid to take out the lawn furniture yet doesn’t mean you can’t have a little bit of summer on the dining room table (the inside one, of course).  The Blush Summer Flower Subscription Program begins July 7th and we have lots of fun in store for you this year!

Spring Wedding Flowers -What’s Local Right Now

Although it’s not officially summer yet, last weekend’s wedding for Tam and Mike sure started to get us in the mood! This was a fun one for many reasons, not least of which was the amazing amount of locally grown materials we were able to use thanks to the new Seattle Wholesale Grower’s Market.

Along with the beautiful David Austin ‘Juliet’ Garden Roses from California, the local stars were: Viburnum (2 kinds!), Ranunculus, ‘Coral Charm’ Peonies, Rubus, Raspberry Vine, Nicotinia, Peterkort Roses, and of course, Temptress Poppies……..

Beautiful Semiahmoo Wedding Photos by Alante Photography!

The sun was shining for Jessica and Brian’s October wedding at Semiahmoo and the talented Loren and Kimberly of Alante Photography captured the event beautifully. We have cake on the brain these days, so this shot had to be front-and-center, but check out the Alante blog post for more of their lovely work.

For just a simple touch to the already delectable cake, we used classic cream ‘Vendela’ Roses along with white Dendrobium Orchids…..now it’s time to go have a piece of cake. Thank you, Jessica and Brian, for being so wonderful to work with!

Festive Summer Wedding Flowers

There’s nothing like ‘Nancilee’ Dahlias to remind us that these gray days won’t last forever! In addition to the beautiful hot pink of the dahlias, these early September wedding centerpieces included a mix of Baptisia, Sedum, Eucalyptus, Roses (‘Milva’, ‘Skyline’ and ‘Milano’) with a few splashes of Freesia, for a little nod to the bride’s bouquet.

Family style tables are the most fun to decorate and this lucky bride found some beautiful fabric, and willing bridesmaids, to sew up the wonderful table runners. Thank you to Rachel Bayne Photography for the fabulous shot!

Orange – it’s here to stay!

Whether it be a summer or fall ceremony, our brides are telling us that orange wedding flowers will still be going strong in 2011! That’s a good thing in our book,  as it’s such a versatile color with lots of beautiful variations in the world of flowers.  Here we have a mix of Ranunculus, Stock, Roses and locally-grown Dahlias that worked so nicely with the mocha of the bridesmaid dresses.

Because we wanted that pop of orange, while still maintaining the richness of the bridesmaid dresses and cream from the bride’s bouquet, we chose a variety of roses (‘Vendela’, ‘Leonidas’, ‘Cherry Brandy’) and bridged the palette together with the apricot-colored Stock. And of course, Dahlia season in the Northwest peaks just in time for beautiful fall wedding bouquets  so here we have ‘Maarn’ and ‘Amber Queen’ joining the mix.

Come see us during Weddings in Woodinville!

On January 30th, Blush will be teaming up with Simply Wed at Novelty Hill Januik Winery for the 2011 Weddings in Woodinville event.  Ticket holders will be chauffeured between seven of the area’s top wedding venues that will be fully decorated to help you envision your perfect day……and you’ll get to sample the cake and bubbly too! We hope to see you there!

Summer Wedding Bouquets (yes, it’s that time already)

Photographed by the very talented Jadyn Welch, Barb and Rick’s July wedding was a beautiful dockside  event at Semiahmoo Resort.  Barb’s colors were orange and yellow and she wanted her flowers to say “SUMMER!”, so we made her bouquet a lively mix of Freesia and Roses (‘Golden Celebration’,  ‘Evelyn’, ‘Golden Collection’, ‘Vendela’ and ‘Skyline’). Not only did it look like summer, but the addition of  some of our favorite Garden Roses gave it that old-fashioned fragrance too. Thank you, Barb, for being such fun to work with!
